Measurement of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) provides a reliable assessment of long-term glycemic control and is a key parameter in the diagnosis and management of diabetes mellitus. HbA1c reflects the average blood glucose level over the previous 2–3 months.

Arkray uses high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for HbA1c determination, a method recognized as a laboratory reference standard. Following sample hemolysis, hemoglobin is separated into individual fractions based on differences in electrical charge. The HbA1c fraction is accurately separated and quantitatively measured as a percentage of total hemoglobin.

ADAMS A1c (HA-Adams) analyzers are known for their high accuracy, reliability, and excellent reproducibility, as demonstrated in independent evaluations. They achieve very low coefficients of variation (often below 1 %), show strong agreement with reference methods, and exhibit minimal interference from common hemoglobin variants. The systems are designed for easy maintenance, cost-effective operation, and rapid result availability, making them well suited for routine clinical laboratories and high-throughput testing.
